Breaking Ground: The Jon M. and Karen Huntsman Basketball Training Facility

The generosity of friends of the U has again allowed the University of Utah to break ground on a project that will benefit our students.

The new, 80,000-square-foot, Jon M. and Karen Huntsman Basketball Training Center will include basketball practice and training facilities  for the men’s and women’s teams

All of our student-athletes will have access to a state of the art high performance center housed directly west of the new basketball facility.  The high performance center will contain a new sports medicine center, strength and conditioning room along with a nutritional fueling station.

We are proud of our student-athletes who continue to show growth and improvement, and not just on the court.  For example, the Utah Men’s Basketball team placed a record five members on the Pac-12 All Academic Teams this year. We know that having quality programs and facilities provides opportunity for greater success.

The new Basketball Training Facility is part of changes occurring to the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The 15,000-seat arena has been renovated and includes a new floor, improved sound system, enhanced lighting and draping system.

We look forward to cheering on our basketball teams and the University of Utah gymnastics team, through the season ahead, in this beautiful arena. The U is grateful to those who have made it, and the new training facility, possible.
