The campus is again alive with the energy of a new academic year. It’s a time of recommitment and renewal of purpose for returning students pursuing their individual aspirations. It’s also a time to welcome a new class to the University of Utah.
On August 23, 2014 the class of 2018, along with their families and friends, were invited to participate in an official welcome. It included words of encouragement and advice from my wife, Dr. Sandi Pershing, and I. Students also learned freshman academic survival tips from distinguished scholar, Professor Vincent Cheng. They heard inspirational stories from ASUU and learned the significance of the Third Down Jump with the help of Swoop.
This is an introduction and a welcome to our new students. It marks the beginning of a relationship with a community that will endure until we celebrate their graduation.
